A little demo on a next new feature

Post by cicciocb »

Hi all,
just a little demo of what will be possible to do with Annex32 in the near future

The demo is with 3 displays 64x64 connected together to form a 192x64 pixel matrix driven by an ESP32-S3

I bought 2 times on 2 different stores on Aliexpress:
1st place

2nd place

On the 1st place I bought 3 panels and on the 2nd I bought 6 panels.

All work well but the 1st batch are RGB and the 2nd are BRG (if I remember well) (no problem as you can do the configuration but cannot be used together).

;-)
So, I got my 4 modules, now I'm eager for the demo code, I ask for the zip file.
But don't stress, I don't have time until the evening ;-(
Best regards

Several questions :
1) Which modules do you have ?
2) Have you the ribbon cables to link the modules between them?
3) Have you the power supply 5V with enough current (I have one @ 10A )
4) How you plan to connect the module with the ESP32-s3 ? using a prototype board or using dupont wires ?

I developed an adapter recently, so I suggest to use the wiring below that I confirmed working properly:

I'll send you some examples based on this wiring; in case you have another wiring, the files must be modified.

P.S. :
Take care of the orientation of the connector on the matrix modules connector (H1 connector left/right pins are mirrored in the schematic)

Good, I think I have the same model (need to check but at first view seems to be the case).

This is my installation, 6 panels in 2 rows of 3 :

The colored ribbon cable links the 1st with the 2nd row.

The first module is connected with the PCB connected directly on the top of it.

The power supply is a 5V 10A PSU that supply also the ESP32-S3.

The ESP32-S3 PCB contains an SDCARD that contains all the images and "movies" (plus all the programs).
Please note that while the bottle cap under the module is essential for a fun evening with friends, it's not needed to flash the module—though it might add some flair!

This is the same seen from the top in parallel with the 1st prototype

I beg to differ. Whilst placing the cap under the module maybe optional, it's removal from the bottle is essential

I agree, and in this case, the content of the bottle can help to get caught by speed control radars (se faire flasher).
